Announcement from NCPC

Attention Singers!

The choir is preparing for the new season. Rehearsals are held weekly (with occasional breaks) on Wednesday evenings from 7:30 to 9:00 beginning September 4th, and we will sing in worship beginning Sunday, September 8th. If you have ever thought about joining the choir, now is the best time. Singers of all ranges are welcomed; Tenors and Basses are especially cherished by our choir family. From the first rehearsal, time will be devoted to begin learning our new Christmas cantata, Appalachian Winter, by Joseph Martin with traditional and original music cleverly arranged in a Celtic style. For more information, contact Hal Hunt at 425-412-3970

Attention Parents who are also Singers!  Did you know that childcare is available during choir rehearsal?  If you join the choir, and need childcare, just let Molly Pankow know!

Becoming Beloved

A message from our Children's Ministry Director:

Greetings!

As I get questions about the Becoming Beloved experience this summer I realize that the details of the program may not be totally clear. I have attached a information sheet to provide you more information about why we are doing this and what it will look like.

A few things to note:

-          All ages from birth-adult are invited and encouraged to participate in the event

-          Children going into 6th grade and under are to be registered with a parent, grandparent, or another adult. These children/adults will be placed in groups together. If you have children who want to attend, but are unable to have a parent or another adult attend with them due to conflicting schedules, please let me know. I will hook them up with another family!

-          Youth going into 7th grade and above will be place in groups separate than their families, unless they want to participate with their families.

After reading through the information sheet please let me know if you have any more questions!

Becoming Beloved

In our fast paced world, we don’t often take time to think about the fact that God chose each one of us to be uniquely beloved. Becoming Beloved is an opportunity to do that as our community will come together to affirm and bless one another. Henri Nouwen’s Book "Life of the Beloved: Spiritual Living in a Secular World" provides a beautiful picture of what it looks like to live into our belovedness and provides a guide to the program. As we move through the program "[Our] only desire is to make these words reverberate in every corner of your being-‘You are the Beloved.’"

Why intergenerational?

We spend a lot of our time at church segregated by age. Children attend Sunday school classes, teenagers have special classes and programs, even our adult programs are often divided by different generations. While those opportunities are important, we can learn and grow so much by time spent together. Children need caring adult role models to help guide their faith development and adults benefit from children’s unique ways of viewing God and the world. This summer provides the perfect opportunity to do that! This program is the alternative to a regular Summer Bible Camp where the focus is on children learning about God through play, song, and story. Becoming Beloved in designed so children, youth, and adults will experience God through play, song, and story with one another.

Beloved Groups…

Participants will be placed in Beloved groups which are small groups consisting of 10-12 people. Children 6th grade and under will be placed in groups with their parents, grandparents, or other caregivers. Couples will also be placed in groups with one another. The groups will consist of people from a variety of life situations, young families with kids, young adults, teenagers, couples, singles, seniors, etc.

The Schedule…

Wednesday July 24th to Friday July 26th

6:00-6:20- Large group worship

6:25-7:05- ½ of the Beloved Groups have their group time while ½ of the groups gather for special activities

7:05-7:45- Groups switch

7:50-8:00- Closing large group worship

Beloved Group time will consist of: Ice breaker games, an ongoing group art activity, discussion, and dessert

Special activities will include: prayer stations, nature walks, large group games and more

Saturday July 27th

We will have several options for Beloved groups to visit a local organization to serve the morning of July 27th. Saturday will end with a large church picnic lunch and celebration at a local park.

Becoming Beloved- Intergenerational Summer Bible Camp

I hope your family will consider participating in our exciting Summer Bible Camp opportunity this summer. All ages will gather together to worship, play, and share in life together all based on the theme Becoming Beloved. Parents and grandparents get to join in the SBC fun this summer as we gather July 24th-27th. We will meet Wednesday-Friday from 6:00-8:00pm and end Saturday with morning service projects and an all church picnic celebration.

April and May

In April, our children were reading a story called, "New Life in Jesus", which uses a butterfly to illustrate the resurrection.

I hope you enjoyed the butterfly crafts and coloring pages.  This spring, if you see a butterfly, remind your child that butterflies remind us of Jesus!

In May, our two year olds will be learning about prayer, with a special craft celebrating mother's on May 12th, Mother's Day!

"Whoever is a believer in Christ is a new creation. The old way of living has disappeared. A new way of living has come into existence." 2 Corinthians 5:17

This Thursday is Maundy Thursday, and there will be a service from 7:00 to 8:30pm. All ages are welcome, and there will be childcare available.

On Friday, there is a Good Friday Service from 7:00 to 8:30pm, also with childcare available.

And finally, THIS SUNDAY, March 31st is Easter Sunday!

There are 3 Sunday services:

The Advent Season

Today is the first Sunday of Advent, a season of waiting in anticipation!

In our newly expanded 2-3 classroom, we will be learning the story of the birth of Christ, with books, songs, finger plays, and a special present opening activity.

Each week, the kids will be making an ornament to take home, that illustrates part of the Christmas story.  If you miss a week, please let me know, and I will give you a kit to assemble at home!

And as one of my favorite Christmas carols says:

Have yourself a merry little Christmas,
Let your heart be light
From now on,
Our troubles will be out of sight

Have yourself a merry little Christmas,
Make the Yule-tide gay,
From now on,
Our troubles will be miles away.

Here we are as in olden days,
Happy golden days of yore.
Faithful friends who are dear to us
Gather near to us once more.

Through the years
We all will be together,
If the Fates allow
Hang a shining star upon the highest bough.
And have yourself A merry little Christmas now.

Faithful friends who are dear to us
Gather near to us once more.

Through the years
We all will be together,
If the Fates allow
Hang a shining star upon the highest bough.
And have yourself A merry little Christmas now.

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests.” Luke 2:14

Donations needed for MOPS/Mary's Place

Hello Moms,

Our NCPC MOPS groups is having a  fundraiser with the Just Between Friends Consignment Sale happening in Mill Creek Friday December 7th, and Saturday December 8th. The sale will be held at the Gold Creek Community Church in Mill Creek at 4326 148th street Southeast (just off Seattle Hill road). The website for the sale is http://www.lynnwood.jbfsale.com/.

For those of you not familiar with Just Between Friends (JBF) they are a national organization who host large scale consignment sales across the country multiple times a year. At these events, consignors bring their new and gently-used children's and maternity merchandise to sell. Shoppers can then browse and purchase these items at great savings, usually far below retail prices. Consignors set their price for the items they are selling and then make 60-70% of what they sell. Consignors can choose to get items back that don't sell, or the organization donates the items to local charities. You can look up their national site at www.jbfsales.com .

The upcoming Mill Creek Sale is a bit unique in that it is a Toy and Baby Equipment Sale only. Just in time for the holidays. I have been in contact with the organizer and as we are a non profit organization, she will compensate us 80% of what we sell. We in exchange have to provide 2-4 volunteers to work a combined total of 8 hours at the sale.

What we need from our families are a good supply of gently used (and working) toys and baby equipment that your kids (and more likely you moms) are open to parting with. This is just in time for clearing out space in preparation for the influx of items that may be coming at Christmas. You can bring your donations to Brooke Yule's house any time, just call Brooke at  206-795-1504 or email her at beyule@earthlink.net
We can store the items in my garage and my husband and I will drop off the items at the Sale Set up between December 2nd and December 5th. Any items not sold, we will pick up and donate to Mary's Place, our MOPS outreach organization.

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with your families. We all have much to be thankful for.
Blessings!
